German football federation punish RB Leipzig forward

RB Leipzig forward Emil Forsberg will be suspended for the first three Bundesliga games of the new year following his red card against Bayern on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old Sweden international was sent off in the 31st minute for a foul on Philipp Lahm in the 3-0 defeat in Munich.

The club, second behind Bayern going into the winter break, accepted Thursday’s ruling by the German football federation DFB disciplinary panel.

Forsberg will miss the two homes games against Eintracht Frankfurt and Hoffenheim, and a visit to Borussia Dortmund.
