While Arsenal were slumping to yet another miserable away defeat at Newcastle on Sunday, the club’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat was in Germany watching his former club in action.
Mislintat, who arrived at Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund in January, was spotted watching the Revierderby as Dortmund were beaten 2-0 at rivals Schalke.
And, as you would expect, Arsenal fans quickly started to debate just who it was that the German talent spotter could be watching.
Several names were suggested, but the general consensus seemed to be that he was there to run the rule over Max Meyer – the German international midfielder who has been heavily tipped to join Arsenal on a free transfer this summer.
If that was the case, Mislintat will have been disappointed, however, as Meyer was an unused substitute during the derby win, with Schalke having grown frustrated at his refusal to sign a new deal.
But that didn’t stop Arsenal fans getting excited as the picture of Mislintat in the stands spread around the internet. Here’s a selection of what’s been said on social media.
