Marvin Compper has only been at Celtic a matter of days but already he knows his history.
The £1million January signing from RB Leipzig has illustrated his knowledge of the Scottish champions in a Q&A with German website sportbuzzer .
Compper was quizzed on everything Celtic and demonstrated he is already well-versed in the Parkhead side.
He knows who has made the most appearances for the club and how many leagues and cups they have won, while revealing he has already read Brendan Rodgers ’ book.
And Compper also told where he believes Celtic would finish if they played in the Bundesliga.
Asked which player holds the record for most appearances, the 32-year-old German said: “Billy McNeill, with 822 games. He was captain in 1967 when Celtic won the European Cup in Lisbon. The Celtic fans always sing about that day in the 67th minute.
“Celtic have won 48 league titles and 37 Scottish Cups. It is part of dealing with an employer who knows history. I also read Brendan Rodgers’ biography. He was an ardent Celtic fan from an early age, lives and loves this club.
“I’ve got a very good feeling signing for Celtic. The team plays similar to Leipzig – no senseless balls forward, and plenty of pressing.’
Asked where he believes Celtic would stand in the Bundesliga, Compper replied: “They would be in places five to seven. My family and I are looking forward to a career in Glasgow.”
