Bayern agree terms with star striker

Fiete Arp has reportedly agreed terms with Bayern Munich, but no deal has been agreed between the two clubs.

One of the hottest young prospects in Germany looks set to join Bayern Municheither this summer or the next. Fiete Arp, Hamburg’s 18-year-old wunderkind, has long been on the Bavarian radar and a deal may be completed sooner rather than later.

According to a report from Bild, Bayern have already agreed upon contract terms with the player. He’ll earn €5 million a year — an extraordinary amount for a player his age — and sign a four-year contract.

No agreement has been reached, however, between the two clubs. Since the player can join Bayern for free next summer after his contract expires, the club is not keen on making a significant offer for the youngster.

Bayern’s first bid was a meager €2.5 million. That fee is far too low for Hamburg’s management. The clubs haven’t negotiated much and don’t seem to be very close at the moment to settling on a price that pleases both parties.

If Bayern were to sign Arp this summer, he would surely go out on loan immediately. So why not just let him stay at Hamburg and sign him for free next summer? Wouldn’t that make more sense?

Don’t worry, the club has thought about that. According to Bild’s report, the Bayern Munich higher-ups don’t like the idea of the striker playing in the 2. Bundesliga. They’d much prefer him to get first team minutes elsewhere in Germany’s top flight.

Fiete Arp is one if the most promising young players in Germany. It’s no surprise how heavily he’s been linked with a move to Munich. It is surprising, though, to see the details of the contract Bayern has reportedly offered him.

He may be a good player, but €5 million is a bit steep for a striker who has hardly cut his teeth in the Bundesliga. If Bayern decide to make this rumor a reality, there must be something really special Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Co. see in the starlet.
