Bayern boss downplays Pavard interest

Bayern have reportdely agreed a deal to sign Stuttgart defender Pavard.

Pavard, 22, played all but one of France’s matches en route to winning the World Cup in Russia and was one of the stars of the tournament.

According to German outlet SWR Sport, Bayern have agreed a deal with Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart for Pavard to complete a switch to the Allianz Arena ahead of the start of the 2019-20 campaign.

Stuttgart were said to be keen on keeping hold of the defender for a while longer, and although they may have got their wish for the time being, their prized asset looks to be on the move.

The report suggests that Bayern would pay £31.2million for the defender next summer, matching the player’s release clause.

But Bayern boss Niko Kovac refuses to comment on reports linking the club with France’s Benjamin Pavard.

This is what he said regarding Benjamin Pavard:

I can’t signing anything about this (signing Stuttgart defender Pavard). If you wanna know more about this, you will have to ask our sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic.

Of course he is a good player and he showed it at the World Cup. But we have a squad of 22 players which is a high number and every player wants to play.

It’s difficult for a coach to make everyone happy with such a big squad.
