Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink ‘does not understand’ why an English side are not pushing hard to sign Bayern Munich star Arturo Vidal this summer.
Vidal, who has been linked with both Chelsea and Arsenal in recent seasons, has been one of the standout players at this year’s Confederations Cup, with Chile set for the final of the tournament on Sunday.
The midfielder was in imperious form as Chile swept aside Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in the semi-final and Hasselbaink believes he could be the perfect signing for Arsenal in the coming months.
‘I don’t understand why an English team does not try to buy him,’ the ITV pundit said following Vidal’s impressive performance.
‘That is the kind of player you want to bring to the Premier League.
‘That is the kind of character. That is the leader – that is exactly what Arsenal need.’
Gunners great Lee Dixon agreed with Hasselbaink, claiming he would bring Vidal to north London in a heartbeat this summer.
‘I would take him at Arsenal tomorrow,’ Dixon stated.
