Borussia Dortmund are prepared to sell Christian Pulisic this summer for £65million. The Bundesliga side have taken their decision to cash in with the 19-year-old a target for Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Liverpool. He has two years left on his contract and has impressed on Dortmund’s US tour, increasing the attention around him.
Bayern had been previously linked to Pulisic, but the Hershey, PA native was not officially on the market. Now, however, it is “game on” and Bayern could be in an advantageous position to do battle with the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Chelsea. The Daily Mail had great detail and insight into Bayern’s plan for acquiring Pulisic and went as far to say that Die Roten views Pulisic as a successor to Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery on the wing, while also a competitor to James Rodriguez as noted below.
Bayern have long been considered favorites for the skillful playmaker, but European champions Real have made contact while Chelsea have also held discussions with Dortmund. Pulisic can play either on the wing or behind the striker and is the poster boy for the USA national side having already clocked up 21 caps and become the youngest American to score in a World Cup qualifier at 17. He turns 20 in September but has good experience from the Bundesliga and Champions League. Bayern see him as a natural successor to the likes of Arjen Robben or Franck Ribery while he will also increase competition for James Rodriguez. They had earmarked Pulisic for next season, but may now accelerate their plans.
The topic of Pulisic came up during Bayern’s stay in Philadelphia this week, but Karl-Heinz Rummenigge played coy.

From a “United States-as-a-market” perspective adding Pulisic would be a coup for a team such as Bayern, which has already established a strong foothold in America. Adding the nation’s top player to the Bundesliga’s top team would only further enhance the value of the league’s television contract, along with Bayern’s own brand in America.
The reality, however, is that Pulisic is a key target to Premier League clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea for the same reasons Bayern values the Dortmund man. It will be hard to top such wealthy clubs in this bidding war, but Bayern has not yet splurged this offseason and a move for Pulisic would be a value buy on a number of levels.
