Pep Guardiola has claimed he thinks it will be the same old contenders when it comes to who will win the World Cup, and noted that Spain, Germany, Brazil and Argentina are the favourites.
That won’t come as much of a shock, and he was speaking to Sky Sports about how he thinks the tournament will go, and noted if Argentina want to do well, Messi and his form is key.
He also spoke about England’s chances or lack thereof, and noted that he wants them to do well given he has some players who will be going with the Three Lions – and England as a country has treated him well since he arrived.
He said to Sky Sports: “They are always the same teams. Spain it was always illusion but after they passed the quarter-finals and they got a generation with Xavi, Iniesta, [Sergio] Ramos, [Gerard] Pique, [Sergio] Busquets, [Iker] Casillas, these guys…
“I think Spain is one of the contenders with Germany, Brazil, if [Lionel] Messi arrives good then Argentina.
“Hopefully England for the players I have and for the country who receive me and my family. I am curious about this competition.”
